February Happenings

During our ministry we traditionally helped with the preparation
of pancakes and sausages for a Shrove Tuesday Supper attended
by the parish. This year we started a new tradition...we made
pancakes and sausages and had our neighbors over to share the
meal with us. The meal was delicious. We have a new griddle
thanks to Aunt Lu and Uncle Murray.
Glen is enjoying his new part time ministry. On Sunday we
slowly made our way to Wynyard as the wind was very strong
and the snow swirling making visibility very poor by times.
By the third service the sky was blue and the roads clear.
The congregations are small but very appreciative. We
found some palms in Wadena and Glen created ashes for the
service tonight in Foam Lake.
A week ago we stopped in at Webers to order a mirror door for
our hall closet. Our niece Kim and nephew Mark have them in their
home and we thought it would really brighten up our hallway.
We came away having ordered new closet doors for all the upstairs
bedrooms and new white doors as well. This week Emil is busy
installing same. It will give the upstairs a fresh new look.

Speedboat Ride

We took a half day excursion. One
stop on the tour was a speed boat
ride into a Mangrove Swamp. Being a
prairie girl at heart I did hang on
very tightly as we darted across the
water. Our guide zoomed in and out
as we made our way to the channels.

The Pools

We really enjoyed spending time around the
pool. There were lots of palms to provide
shade for those of us who burn very easily, and
close by sunny spots for those who like to bake
in the sun. We sipped our Lime Daiquiris from
thermal mugs and read!!!! Quite the life!!!!

The Bars at the Resort

An all inclusive resort means that all your meals and
drinks are included. My mandate was to try every
cocktail the bar menu listed. My favorite was a lime
daiquiri...with or without rum. Glen was inclined to
a local drink called a Coco Loco! Blue Hawaii's were
also enjoyed. Needless to say the bars were busy
places!!!!The main bar was located close to the lobby.
The Beach Bar was a swim up bar...so people could
sit on the bar stools in the pool and enjoy their drinks!!!

We Were Well Looked After

These happy faces served us our beverages
at breakfast and lunch each day in the dining
room. Eileena and Nelson are married and have
two children. Villy has a little boy named
Andy who is four years old.
In the evening Lorenzo looked after all our needs.

Service with a Smile

Each day the maid tidied the rooms and
would leave the towels folded in all different
ways. One day it was turtles, another
elephants. The swans were our favorite.
One day the spreads were folded like
butterflies and the swans were in the
sink!!!!Little touches like these made
one smile. The gardeners would fashion
the palm leaves into grasshoppers,
crickets and birds. One clever fellow
event made pith helmet type hats that
you could purchase for five pesos!!!!
