Snow in May

Can you believe it???? The
rain guage tells us that two inches
of rain has fallen since yesterday
noon. Good moisture for the garden!
A few minutes ago I looked
out the window and it is SNOWING!
And as you can see from the lawn
it looks as if it will be staying
for a little while!!!Good day to
curl up with a book!!!!

Grande Prairie Road Trip

On Saturday we loaded the
Stow and Go with Grandma
Burgomaster's dining room
suite and Grandma Churchman's
Petit Point dishes....and after
the church circuit on Sunday
headed for Grande Prairie to
visit with Andrew and Chantelle.
As you can see the van was
very full....we put oven mitts over
the legs of the chairs and china
cabinet to keep things from rubbing!!!
Unloading was a challenge!!!
We had a great visit with Andrew
Chantelle and their kitty cats.
We stayed with our dear friends the
Hubicks...who themselves are moving
to a Condo at the end of the month!!!!

Our New Pets

We have a new hobby besides
gardening...the feeding of the
birds. Over the last few weeks
several feeders have found
their way to our front yard.
The small green seed house was
a Christmas present replete
with Saskatchewan Bird
Identification Book. The sunflower seeds
needed a special feeder as did the
peanuts. The hanging basket/pizza
pan holds the peanuts and
the Blue Jays swoop down and carry
them off. They only like
peanuts in their shells. Orange
slices attract the little yellow
finches and that is who we are
hoping will take up residence
in the funky birdhouse at the
side of the house. Time will tell!!!

Theodore Blooms

The farmers are in their fields and the Burgomasters are in the garden. It has been a Garden Marathon.
On Monday we planted three apple trees in the garden plot and a bramble berry patch....a row of raspberries, some Saskatoons, gooseberries, black berries and currants and asparagus. Today we were up
bright and early. I cultivated the north flower
bed....it took a great deal of brawn as the ground was
very hard and very weedy, little hostis and peonies
are peeking through the ground. Glen went to the plot across the way and planted potatoes and beans!!!!
The sweet peas are soaking for planting tomorrow.
Needless to say the bones are stiff and sore tonight, but
we feel we have accomplished alot!!!!

Fifth Sunday Joint Service

On each fifth Sunday the Quillview Parish churches take turns hosting a joint service for all three points.
In April St. John's Foam Lake were the hosts.
They do not have a hall but were able to rent an adjoining facility belonging to the Orthodox Church.
It is indeed a time of great fellowship and getting to know one another. Glen began the tradition when he was first the priest in the Wadena parish many years ago.

The One O'Clock Service

We truly have come full circle. Thirty years ago St. John's Wadena was part of the Diocese of Qu'Appelle and one of the six points that made up Glen's first parish. We lived in the town of Wadena. There are many familiar faces. After the service each Sunday the congregation gathers for refreshments and fellowship. These are truly appreciated by the now weary Burgomasters. The homeward journey completes the circuit...252 kilometres travelled.

The Eleven O'Clock Service

On a typical Sunday morning...we depart about 10:10 from Foam Lake and set out straight down
Highway 16 for Wynyard. It is about a 35 minute drive. St. Margaret's Anglican Church is the largest congregation of the three points. The church can be found one block off Main Street.

The Nine O'Clock Service

Welcome to the Sunday Circuit.
This is the first stop in Foam Lake about half an hour from
Theodore. The Church is tiny and seats about 50 at full
capacity.
